Aussiecom
- Your Web Site / Database Integration and Hosting Specialists
Aussiecom has done thorough research into the options available
for creating and hosting database enabled web sites and have chosen
what we believe are the highest performance, most secure, most robust
applications available.
Our database enabled web sites can easily handle over 25,000 hits
per day, and databases containing millions of records can be accessed
at lightning speeds.
The software chosen includes PHP (for the database integration/access
programming), MySQL (the database engine), and Apache web server.
Our servers are Sun Ultra's, running Unix, connected to the internet
via a T3 (45Mbps) connection. We have system administrators on stand-by
24 hours a day, and all servers have backup batteries, power generators,
and we do daily backups of all servers.
If you are interested in having a high speed, secure, robust database
integrated web site with minimum down-time, you cannot afford to
go past Aussiecom Internet Consulting.
Web-Database integration and scripting language - PHP
PHP is a server side scripting language that is embedded in web
pages. It is most commonly used for database integration, and MySQL
databases in particular. The number of web sites using the PHP language
has increased from under 100,000 in June 1998 to over 2,700,000
domains running php (in June 2000).

Database
Server - MySQL
MySQL is a very fast, multi-threaded, multi-user and robust SQL
(Structured Query Language) database server.
MySQL was originally developed to handle very large databases an
order of magnitude faster than any database vendor could offer.
The producers of MySQL have now been using it since 1996 in an environment
with more than 40 databases containing 10,000 tables, of which more
than 500 have more than 7 million rows. This is about 100 gigabytes
of mission-critical data.

Netcraft (www.netcraft.com)
- May 1999 (5,414,325 sites surveyed).
"This month sees Apache go past the 3 million sites mark. The
widespread deployment of Apache amongst hosting companies and ISPs
ensures that Apache is in a better position to echo the growth of
the web than any other server, and this has been a longterm theme
of the Web Server survey." - Netcraft (May 1999 survey of over
5 million sites)
"Apache remains the king of Web servers .. Apache's overall security,
performance, and robustness are unquestionable -- many of the most
accessed sites in the world run Apache or Apache derivatives."
- Serverwatch 1999 Hall of Fame
"With sites like Yahoo running Apache, its scalability is unquestionable…the
Apache fan club can only get bigger." - NewMedia Magazine 1998

"A robust, stable, extremely inexpensive, and constantly upgraded
product that dominated the web server market a year after its introduction
and which continues that domination to this day." - Network
